How to download Instagram photos

1

Copy the post link

Open Instagram and go to the photo post you want to save. Tap the ... icon (three dots) on the post and select Copy Link. For carousel posts, copy the link to the main post - you don't need a separate link for each photo.
2

Paste and download

Tap Paste on this page to insert the link, then tap Download. For a carousel post, all photos will appear below in separate thumbnails.
3

Save the photos to your device

Tap the download icon on each photo you want to keep. On iPhone (Safari): the image saves to Files app → Downloads. Tap Save Image to add it to your Camera Roll. On Android: photos download to your Downloads folder and appear in your Gallery.

How FastDL saves Instagram photos

When you screenshot an Instagram photo, you capture the compressed version displayed on screen - often smaller than the original and with additional pixels taken up by the UI. FastDL retrieves the actual image file Instagram stores for that post, at the resolution the creator uploaded (subject to Instagram's own processing).

For carousel posts with multiple photos, all items are fetched in one request. You'll see each photo listed separately and can download any or all of them.

Photos download as JPG files. There is no account required and nothing to install - FastDL runs in your browser on any device.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I download all photos from an Instagram carousel in one go?

Yes. Paste the link to the carousel post and FastDL will load all photos in the carousel as separate download items. You can tap each download button individually, or use bulk download if that option appears. You only need to paste the link once - the single post link covers all items in the carousel.

What resolution are downloaded Instagram photos?

The resolution depends on what Instagram stores for that post. Instagram processes uploaded photos and caps them at a certain resolution. FastDL retrieves the version Instagram serves - it doesn't upscale or downscale the image. Typically you get a significantly higher resolution than what a screenshot would capture, since screenshots are limited to your screen's display resolution.

Why can't I download photos from a private account?

FastDL only works with posts from public accounts. For private accounts you follow, try our Private Instagram Downloader.

Are the photos saved as JPG or PNG?

Instagram stores post photos as JPG files, so that's the format you'll receive. If you need a specific format, you can convert the JPG file after downloading using any image editor or free online converter.

Does the quality of the downloaded photo match the original upload?

It matches what Instagram stores, which may be slightly different from the original upload. Instagram processes photos when they're posted - the version FastDL delivers is the same one the Instagram app displays to everyone, not the creator's original file.

How do I save the photo to my Camera Roll on iPhone?

After tapping the download button, go to your Files app → Downloads folder. Tap on the photo to open it, then tap the share icon (box with arrow at the bottom) and select Save Image. The photo will be added to your Camera Roll.

Can I download all photos from a multi-photo carousel post?

Yes! FastDL fetches the full post and displays all photos from the carousel so you can save them individually or all at once. If you need to batch download photos from multiple different Instagram posts, use our Instagram Bulk Downloader.

What about Instagram photos posted as part of a Reel?

Content posted as a Reel is a video, not a photo. Use our Instagram Reels Downloader to save Reels.

Is downloading Instagram photos for personal use legal?

Saving photos for personal offline viewing is generally acceptable. Using them commercially, republishing them or claiming them as your own is not. Always respect the copyright of the original photographer.

Is FastDL free?

Yes. FastDL is completely free, requires no registration, and has no daily download limits.
